What is PBIS?
Bearspaw School PBIS
The goals of PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) are:
- Establish the foundation for delivering regular, proactive support and preventing unwanted behaviors by clearly defining expected behaviors for all.
- Improve student outcomes, including academic performance, social-emotional competence, and social and academic outcomes for students with disabilities.
- Reduce exclusionary discipline practices such as office discipline referrals, suspensions, and restraint and seclusion.
- Enhance teacher outcomes, including perceptions of teacher efficacy, school organizational health, school climate, and school safety.
- Foster a positive school culture that supports the mental health and wellbeing of all staff and students.
Bearspaw School will use PBIS to guide instruction and interventions with students using positive feedback and encouraging "good" behaviours.
